This is a reminder regarding camp check-in procedures, the schedule, as well as a reminder of what to bring, etc.

Check-In/Rooming Assignments

Check-in for the camp will take place on Sunday, July 7 between 10:00AM and 11:30AM at the Brock Center on the campus of Randolph-Macon College. Directions to campus can be found here.

Please note that the College is closed early next week and we will not have rooming assignments done until Friday, July 5.  Please, no calls regarding rooming assignments.  This camp has rooms that are set up two different ways so sometimes there are 4 and sometimes 2 to a room.

Directions for Parking

Once you are on campus you will find yourself traveling down Henry Street.  There are three options for parking:

1.     You can come down Henry Street, pass the fountain and turn left onto East Patrick Street into the first parking lot you see on your left.  The Brock Center will be directly in front of you as you pull in.  If the lot is full please park using options 2 or 3 below.  Please do not double park and block another car in.
 

2.     You can drive down Henry Street and park in the parking lots of the Dorms on your right.  The boys will be staying in the two of the last 2 dorms - Smith and Bennett, on that side of Henry Street as well as Birdsong Hall, which is the large brick dorm around the turf.  You can then just walk back up Henry Street past the stadium and turn right on East Patrick Street.  The Brock Center will be directly in front of you.
 

3.     Travel down Henry Street and go past East Patrick Street.  Turn left on Smith Street.  Turn left at the dead end then make an immediate left into the large parking lot after the baseball field.  Again the Brock Center will be right in front of you slightly across from the stadium.   

The campus is very nice and luckily is also fairly compact so traveling from place to place on foot is very easy.  

Important Information

The camp orientation meeting will take place at 11:45AM inside the Brock Center.  Campers must bring all training gear (cleats, soccer balls, flat bottom shoes for futsal, etc.) to the meeting.  Directly after the meeting campers will go with their groups to their assigned fields or indoor space and begin playing.  We must be done with check-in by 11:30AM in order to start camp on time.  Campers do not need to be escorted by an adult to the meeting as long as they are responsible and can be on time.  Campers can drive themselves to camp but are not permitted to move their car after check-in unless they are a day camper and departing for the day.

Some but not all of the rooms have refrigerators.  You are welcome to bring a small portable fridge but with the camp being so short it’s definitely not needed.  Check-out for camp will be on Tuesday, July 9 at 3:00PM.  Water will be provided at all fields but it is recommended that each camper brings a water bottle.  Dorms either have water fountains or kitchens equipped to refill campers' water bottles before and between sessions.  Campers must bring a soccer ball WITH AIR IN IT (unless a ball was ordered), shin guards, cleats, flat bottom shoes (all campers must have flat bottom shoes in case we have to go indoors for futsal as well as for agility training), sunscreen, towel, sheets (bed size is standard twin), alarm clock, pillow, blanket, fan, toiletries, an adequate change of clothes (I suggest plenty of dry socks and clean underwear in particular), warm clothes and blankets for sleeping as all dorms have air conditioning and can become cool at night, and spending money (cash) for our nightly pizza orders and our camp store where we will sell water and Gatorade.  A large pizza is $12 and we will order pizza on Sunday and Monday night.  Pizza is in addition to the three meals per day that will be provided in the cafeteria.  Ordering pizza is not required, but most kids do order.  Camp is generally very hot, so campers should arrive with enough drinks and /or money to purchase drinks at the camp store.  Cell phones are permitted but are not allowed in the dining hall.  They are not required but we have no problem with campers having their cell phone.  Cell phones can also serve the same purpose as an alarm clock.

Day Camper Information

Day campers should not check-in until close to 11:00AM.  Day campers will be given access to a space so that they have a place to store their gear so they must go through the check in line.  Day campers must arrive every morning no later than 8:15AM with the exception of Day 1 at Day Field (our turf stadium which is 30 yards from the Brock Center) unless it is raining in which case they should arrive at the Brock Center. Day campers should be picked up each evening at 8:15PM at Day Field or at the Brock Center if the weather is bad. We do not provide Breakfast for Day campers but all other meals are provided.   Day campers should check their emails regularly DURING camp in case changes need to be made due to weather.  This can happen and it can require a day camper to stay late or arrive very early in the morning.

Camper Behavior

This is our 15th year of operation and we have had limited issues with behavior. We have overstaffed the camp so that there is more than enough supervision. With that said I want to be clear that we have very high standards regarding camper behavior. At this age this should go without saying. Campers are expected to respect each other, our staff, our housekeepers, and our dining hall people at all times. Campers should arrive with clean and washed clothes.  Rooms must be kept clean. I realize they can get a little messy as a general result of camp but we do expect the campers to make every effort to maintain a clean dorm. Campers are expected to be on time for everything. Campers are responsible for their own personal items including their soccer ball and money. Bare feet will not be permitted. Campers should have comfortable shoes to travel around in and more importantly flip flops or sandals. Socks should be removed immediately after every session so that the wet socks do not cause blisters. The best thing to do is to remove socks and transition right to flip flops/sandals.
